Ranucci's Report to Resume Broadcasts Despite Recent Bombing Incident Near Home

20-10-2025

Sigfrido Ranucci, the prominent journalist and host of the investigative program Report, has returned to television following a bombing incident on October 17th near his residence in Pomezia. During an appearance on Monica Maggioni's program "In mezz'ora," Ranucci announced the upcoming season of Report, scheduled to begin broadcasting on October 26th. The journalist addressed the attack directly, suggesting it may have been intended as intimidation against his investigative work.

The new season of Report comes after recent discussions about potential reductions to the program's episodes, which Ranucci has previously contested as attempts to control his journalistic activities. Despite these challenges, the journalist acknowledged that Rai remains the only broadcaster capable of sustaining an investigative program of Report's nature. Ranucci confirmed the program would maintain its characteristic approach, touching upon various centers of power and interests across Italian society.

Regarding the bombing incident, Ranucci described initially mistaking the explosion for a gas cylinder before discovering the damage to his vehicle. He stated that the perpetrator clearly knew his habits and routines. While emphasizing the difficulty in identifying the attack's origin given the numerous interests Report investigates, Ranucci expressed his belief that criminal elements rather than political masterminds were responsible. "We touch so many interests and power centers that it's impossible to understand the origin," he noted during the interview.

Despite the intimidation attempt, Ranucci assured viewers that the Report team remains undeterred and will continue investigating sensitive topics. The journalist mentioned upcoming "delicate episodes" while acknowledging the possibility that the attack could relate to past investigations. He confirmed that the matter is now in the hands of investigators while expressing concern for his family's reaction, particularly his daughter's emotional response to the incident.
