Vittoria Teenager Freed After Brief Kidnapping Ordeal

28-09-2025

A seventeen-year-old boy has returned home safely after being kidnapped in Vittoria, Ragusa, on Thursday evening. The teenager was abducted while spending time with friends in a small square in the Marangio district before being released approximately 24 hours later. He subsequently presented himself at the local police station to provide investigators with a detailed account of his experience.

According to statements from the boy's father, a prominent local businessman in the fruit and vegetable sector, the kidnappers treated his son reasonably well during the ordeal. The captives provided the teenager with water and a sandwich, though the father noted his son ate little due to fear and tension. The kidnappers did not threaten or physically harm the boy during his captivity.

The young victim described being transported while hooded, preventing him from seeing the route taken. He estimated the journey lasted approximately half an hour before arriving at what he believed to be a countryside house. There, he was kept alone in a single room, with his captors—described as Italian-speaking adults around forty years old—remaining hooded during their occasional visits.

Police investigations began immediately after friends reported the abduction, with law enforcement receiving praise from the family for their rapid and professional response. The boy was eventually released on a road outside Vittoria, approximately two kilometers from town, where he walked until encountering people who transported him to the police station. While physically unharmed, the teenager remains emotionally affected by what his father described as "a nightmare" for the entire family.
