Violent Watch Robbery Attempt Thwarted by Padova Authorities

28-09-2025

Police in Padova have arrested three individuals with criminal records following a failed attempt to steal a luxury watch valued at €80,000 from a 46-year-old local entrepreneur. The incident occurred on Thursday when the victim was assaulted while walking to a bar during his lunch break after leaving his office. Two men on a high-displacement motorcycle cut off his path and forced him to stop, with the passenger violently attacking him in an effort to steal the timepiece.

The assailants repeatedly struck the businessman with kicks and punches as he resisted their attempts to remove the watch from his wrist. The robbery attempt was ultimately unsuccessful, with the perpetrators fleeing toward the Padova Ovest highway exit after being disturbed by approaching bystanders who witnessed the altercation. The victim was left injured at the scene but managed to retain possession of his valuable watch despite the violent confrontation.

Law enforcement intervention proved crucial in the immediate aftermath. Officers from the mobile squads of Padova and Bologna, who were already investigating a previous theft in the Emilia capital, intercepted the suspects near the highway exit. Two were apprehended close to the toll booth, while the third was captured shortly afterward. The coordinated police response prevented the suspects from escaping the area following their failed robbery attempt.

During a search of the getaway vehicle, authorities discovered significant evidence linking the suspects to other criminal activities. Police recovered eight watches from a previous theft targeting a jewelry representative in Bologna, with two additional watches from the same theft found on the wrists of two arrested individuals. Investigators also found a reproduced motorcycle license plate used to cover the original plate during the robbery attempt, along with motorcycle clothing and technical jackets, indicating careful planning of the criminal operation.
