TVS Motor Company, a leading global manufacturer of two- and three-wheelers, has agreed to acquire Italian automotive design and engineering firm Engines Engineering S.p.A. for approximately €5.05 million (Rs 52 crore). The acquisition involves purchasing 1,000,000 equity shares at €5.05 per share, representing 100% of Engines Engineering's equity share capital, subject to completion of agreed conditions. This strategic move is part of TVS Motor's initiative to establish a global Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bologna, Italy.
The newly established CoE will serve as a concept-to-product innovation hub, integrating Engines Engineering's expertise with TVS Motor's global research and development capabilities. Engines Engineering brings significant experience in advanced prototyping, innovation in high-performance motorcycles, and deep knowledge from MotoGP racing. The collaboration aims to enhance TVS Motor's speed to market, product differentiation, and technological leadership across its global operations.
TVS Motor Company Chairman Sudarshan Venu emphasized that combining Engines Engineering's creativity and racing expertise with TVS's engineering strengths will expand the company's ability to deliver premium, connected, and electric vehicles that set new global benchmarks. The CoE will also support Norton Motorcycles, TVS's British marque, in advancing its craft of exceptional high-performance motorcycles while honoring its iconic legacy and future ambitions.
The acquisition marks another chapter for Engines Engineering, which was founded in 1979 by Alberto Strazzari and has undergone several ownership changes. The Italian firm previously had Mahindra Group as a majority stakeholder before Strazzari and his daughter Claudia reacquired full ownership. TVS Motor's investment reinforces its long-term vision to accelerate development of next-generation mobility platforms and premium products for international markets.
